The use of the word Super before an adjective...

Whether you are are super excited or not have you noticed this usage of the word super?
I thought this was a fairly new usage... apparently not..

ozy/the-new-and-the-...d-super/40226/

Do you find it irritating?

I find it super irritating... but what do you think?

Another Americanism that has crept it?

Please vote...

It's almost as bad as beginning every sentence with So.

My kids come out with Bae (best friend I think), my dd sends me messages with H which means hi. We have a page of sending H backwards and forwards just for the bants (another one lol). Now everything is chill not chilled!

What did you do for a living Mick?

So - I was a quantity surveyor for over 50 years and I found it super exciting walking on a building site but at this moment in time (aka now ) they are cold and muddy.

I did plenty of blue sky thinking back in the day though.

Mick

So, back in the day, mick you were super essential on the site?

So did you polish your theodolite?

Absolutely!

Common misconception SF that a QS uses a theodolite or a dumpy level - they are for land surveyors.

I had to use them in the 60's in my exams but wouldn't know where to start now.

Apologies for the pedantry though. I must be having a dinosaur day having read some of today's posts. Do some people never take a day off.
