Blue tit at my window

Yesterday afternoon whilst I was working I could hear a strange tapping noise so got up to investigate and it was a cute little blue tit jumping from a close branch and flapping and fluttering tapping on my kitchen window, the top bit that opens. I moved when I went close but came back within seconds. It was doing this from about 3pm until it went dark.

Fast forward to this morning and the silly little thing is back, I feel so bad for it, I don't know what to do, why won't it just go back and do its nesting things and eat some food!

We had them doing this a couple of years ago at our new lounge window sills, somebody told us that they were trying to get some of the sealant and disturbed plaster for their nests?
I’m not sure how true this is

We had this last year when some birds were about to start making their nest in our box.

The bird did it for a week or so and then stopped... so just leave it be and I think it will stop... not sure why they do it but its definately some form of nesting behaviour!

I have had a coal tit do that with me this year - I think he must see his reflection in the window and thinks it’s another bird he wants to get “friendly’ with ? It only happens when the blinds are closed but I take it as a nudge to get out and re-fill the feeders and bird bath

I had a Jay and is partner today sitting at my outlet outside breakfast table while I was a couple of feet away bring out coffee - amazingly tame. They got rewarded with some sultanas which I read they enjoy

We get them doing that but they are eating the spiders. We also have security cameras and the spiders love to build webs across the infra red LED's. We quite often get an alert of a blue or great tit picking off the spider.

Also have you noticed how loud the great tits are this year. They drive my daughter mad all day long as she is working from home

Had this bullfinch at my kitchen window a couple of years ago doing exactly the same thing for a couple of days. Also used to get blue tits on summer house window. At first I thought they were after insects but I think it’s more a mating/territory thing and they are going for their reflection.

We are lucky they can remember the songs they sing!

Not being funny but with a dwindling population we could end up like this problem Australia is facing where an endangered bird is so isolated from its fellow birds it has forgotten the songs!
