Ahhh what next!?

Just when I've talked oh in to not cancelling as it would have ment losing our 2k deposit and an additional £800 cancellation charges I've now read about £120pp testing fee! He's now saying we should just cancel as paying testing for 8 of us (2ad, 6ch) is more than our cancellation charge. I hope to god by September they've found cheaper means of testing 😭 x

Who is charging you cancellation charges on top of £2000?

How old are your children? As kids under 11 do not need to test coming home to UK. And going out to the USA, they accept the tests that BA charge £39 via Qured

Charter travel, we've already paid 1900 deposit, then in their terms and conditions it states if we cancel we have to pay 100pp cancellation fee. Our children will be (16,12,12,10,9 and 1) so if thats the case we'd not need to pay for 3 to be tested. I have to do lateral flow tests twice weekly for my work, its a shame you can't just do those prior to flying, how they can justify £120 is crazy x

Testing going out would be based on what the USA require, which as has been said the £39 ones suffice at the moment. That’s before they open their borders to us. It could be they won’t require a test at all (unlikely) but it’s all guesswork until they announce it.

Coming home it seems that we’re gonna have ample (free) supply of the lateral flow test to take out with us to use before coming home from green countries. The sticking point is the PCR test on day 2 after arrival, that needs to be booked (and paid for) before you go on holiday.

That’s what the situation looks like at the moment, and for me is the worst case scenario for green countries. I don’t go until October and expect something to change (most likely the paid for PCR test when we’re back).

Any company charging a cancellation fee on top of a sacrificed deposit is best avoided.

Scandalous way to operate a business.

Might be worth checking if the cancellation fee applies to children too and also is it taken from your deposit rather than an additional payment?
Also do Charter allow you to move the booking rather than cancel?

We could move it but at a £175pp charge. Fingers crossed by late September things are more finalised and testing cheaper x

I agree. I have never come across a company that charges such a fee as well as lost deposit. How would they even get it anyway, without suing people that is.
