The usual rule of thumb was to tip $1 to $2 per drink ($1 for simple/standard drinks, $2 for more complicated/expensive drinks like cocktails).

That may have increased in recent years though.

I guess that would mean having a few $1 bills with you.

if its a rolling tab - as in you get a drink and they swap out the receipt while sat at the bar as you drink - I tend to tip a $1 per drink - otherwise you will be ignored for other customers.
DX - I love how you get the waitress to sit with you away from the bar... but let them do their job eh!

I've seen the answers to tipping on bills and 15-20% but what about housekeepers and staff, what amount is expected as you don't have a bill to take the 15-20% from.

I think it depends what tipping camp you're in Rotherham!
  • We don't tip room service
  • We tip daily
  • We tip weekly
  • We tip at the end of the holiday
  • We empty all the coins we have left at the end of the holiday onto the unit

We tip $2 a day... it's not a lot I know but it's a recognition and it adds up to $28 over a fortnight and ensures staff rotation gets tipped.

Plus... we empty all the coins we have left at the end of the holiday onto the unit (which can actually be $10-20 normally).

The answer you seek is in the DIBB's Guidebook page on tipping in Orlando:

https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/Tip...ando-p-40.html

"It is recommended that Housekeeping staff are tipped around $1 or $2 per day per occupant in your room. Please leave the tip each day rather than at the end of your stay as you may have different staff each day".

However (and here's where I muddy the waters somewhat), I just thought I'd point out that Mousekeeping staff at Disney are not in what is called "a tipped position". What is meant by this is that mousekeeping staff will get paid at least the state's minimum wage. Whereas servers in the restaurants will be paid less than this minimum wage on the expectation that they get tips.

This doesn't change the suggested recommendation mentioned above and in the guidebook.

(Personally, I tip roughly the same whether in Orlando or in the UK. I don't tip the housekeepers in UK hotels and therefore I don't generally tip the housekeepers in Orlando, unless they've done something beyond their normal job or helped me out with something).

If you do want to tip Mousekeeping, it's recommended to do it every day rather than at the end of your stay, as you may have had several different Mousekeepers.

Put the money in an envelope so they know it is a tip rather than just cash you've left hanging about.

There are lots of fun designs on the internet to create your own envelopes - do a search for 'Mousekeeping envelopes'. There may still be some on here, there used to be.
