Selling DVDs / CDs / Books

Can anyone recommend a website for selling DVDs, CDs and books? I would like to attempt to sell but may well end up giving to charity ... just fed up with them being boxed up and ready to go but charities aren’t taking much at the mo so I thought I could boost the holidays pot!

You might struggle to sell most DVDs unless they are blu rays because I couldn't even give my old DVDs to charity shops.

Have you tried Music Magpie? we sold lots of cds and DVD’s to them when we were clearing out to move house, you know how much they’ll offer you before you decide to sell to them, very easy process x

I used music magpie when I had to find somewhere for apx 100 dvds. It was heartbreaking. Some where new but sold for a few pence.

Overall it was a very easy process.

I imagine there is a very small market for these nowadays as many no longer use CDs, DVDs or books; we haven’t for 10+ years.
You may also find it hard to give these items to charity shops as they’ll want to use their valuable space for items people still want to buy. At least 5-6 years ago, we tried to give mint condition hard back books to charity shops; nearly all refused them.

Used Ziffit for all our CDs about 2 years ago and I think got about 50p to a £2 for most of them with a handful of them going for £10 each ie anything you have that’s a bit different and collectible.

On the collectible theme, it’s possible you have a bit of a treasure trove on your bookshelf. I’ve a couple of books bought new 10-15 years ago for £15-20 each, worth more than £500 each now. It helps if they’re on a subject that’s a bit nerdy but has a passionate following (eg books on WDW that have gone out of print could fit this criteria ) In my case, one was on Porsche, one was on the Apollo missions but if you have books on anything that’s a bit different and had a limited print run you might find they’re worth a bit. Just check eBay to get a sense of what they might fetch.

Webuybooks take books and dvds, not sure on cds though. I sold some through there but to be honest it’s not a great deal of money. my local Red Cross shop took 2 big boxes of books, cds and dvds yesterday so I was more than happy to pass it all on for them to hopefully make more than me selling it.

Charity shops are now more interested in Ex Rental VHS tapes than DVDs now.
