Isn’t it funny the things we’ll happily disclose online to strangers that we wouldn’t tell others!
We’ve been lucky enough the last few years to have a healthy £20000 budget for holidays each year. That’s for 3 of us and we’d usually get 3-4 trips from that, at least 3 weeks in Florida each summer, a couple of 1 weeks trips to Florida or somewhere hot and a ski trip. We love our holidays and making memories as a family. I’d never tell family and friends that we spend that much though. I know they could work it out if they wanted to know but it’s not something to be discussed. |

We don’t drive expensive cars or live in a mansion and we both earn good salaries. All of our spare “ fun tockens” are spent on holidays.
We are away most weekends and all school holidays our spend would be £18, 000 - £20,000 per year we are a family of four. Our holidays are vastly different camping, boating, city breaks, Florida, Europe touring, walking holidays, all inclusive etc Edited at 08:04 AM. |

I was torn between the up to 4k and over 4k. Went for over 4k when I thought about our UK and Europe trips away over the year as they add up. That's just DH and I mainly, although if any of the adult kids come with us we sometimes sub them a bit, but that's becoming less as they get more financially independent.

We are right at the top of the scale but that is mainly due to having 5 teen/adult children that are ‘adults’ for all holiday costs, inc food. We try and have one big family holiday and 1 holiday as a couple (plus mini trips in UK at Center Parcs, Poole & weekend trips to Liverpool for the football). We also purchased DVC in 2019 so that was an extra £27k on top of the usual holiday costs that year.
We were looking forward to finally having a few ‘kid free’ trips now they are getting older and had several small holidays booked in last year for the first time since they were born 25 years ago. COVID put a stop to that and all the rearranged holidays have been cancelled too. Hopefully soon we will be able to enjoy some trips together (as well as a family trip each year). |

It depends on where we go. I put £4000-£8000 but we don’t spend that every year.
In 2016 we spent about £11,000 (including spends) on our 24 night Florida trip. In 2017 it was no more than £2000 on a two week trip self catering villa in Spain. Plus £2000 at Christmas to Finland. 20018 - Japan and Dubai £6000 ish 2019 - About £2000 on a 10 day rainy trip to Cornwall. 2020 - Much better value for money than 2019 £1400 all inclusive week in Gran Canaria. That’s for 2a 2ch but kids are now 15 and 12 so often have to pay adult prices for things. |

Too much is the answer ! Just me or if others/family they self fund but you are a long time dead and holidays are soo important to me (abstinence has made my heart grows fonder) so intend to splash big and often as and when I (safely and responsibly ) resume travelling. None of that cheap UK/EU malarkey for this one - get me on a long haul flight sat in the pointy end to the sun in California

Our spends have increased a lot in the last 4 years, over that time I'd say an average of about 8k, including spending. We are 2a 2c, oldest 13 so near adult prices for her now.
Last year we just did Efteling, probably about £1500? We have about £300 Eurostar vouchers from our cancelled DLP & Barcelona trip - maybe we'll do that next year? And we spent about £300 on an Easter caravan holiday in Wales that we're going to have to cancel for the second time 😭 2019 about 5k on a week in FL Universal and another £1k ish on a week in center Parcs in Belgium. 2018 10k 14 nights WDW probably a couple hundred on camping too 2017 my dad treated us to WDW, sadly he didn't make it to the trip.. Pre 2017 we had about £2k a year budget and we'd go to France for a week sharing a villa with friends, drive down so probably £1-1.5k and a weekend in Wales in a caravan, probably £500 and a weekend camping, probably £200. Before about 2014 we would just do Wales and camping. I love to travel, before the kids we would do super budget Europe city breaks. Last couple of years I've also done a weekend away with girl friends which was amazing. I can't wait to get back to holidays. I know lots of people feel they are frivolous, but a bit of sunshine and adventure makes me so happy. When I read people predicting no foreign travel for the foreseeable my heart sinks, after a year of not being allowed to travel my feet are so itchy. |
