How much do you spend on holidays per year ?

Well the £4-8k brigade catching up fast to the £8-£12k brigade

Usually, we would sit in the £8,000 to £12,000 category. This year we should be sitting in the £18,000 - £25,000 as we should be having our honeymoon and 4 other trips we’d planned.

But we are actually sitting in the £0 category.

The year before our total (long weekend in Rome for hubbys 40th and 2 weeks in Florida Feb 21) we spent a total of £15k without a penny of debt. Covid has meant we have finally brought our first house, after 21years living together 😂

I counted this up earlier this year (to show hubby how much we had saved on holidays to persuade him to let me spend on the garden!)

4 of us - 2 adults and 2 teens so adult prices all round now. Most years we do the same things:

3 weeks florida £12k
2 weeks luxury AI Turkey £6k
1 week just the 2 of us £2K
Center Parcs october £1.5K
Umpteen caravans & weekend hotel breaks £2K

So £23.5k most years. Far more than I had actually realised! It will calm down now though as I’m not sure Hannah will holiday with us now as she turns 18 this year and will start going with friends 😢

It's just me & DW. We've only been abroad to florida (except for 2 short trips to dlp) & would say its £3000 each per trip, but that's usually every other year so £1500.

In the UK we how have so far only done 3 days away at a time (she works shifts so do Wednesday to Friday) spending probably under £400. We like camping so tent o do a few nights away but it's cheap as chips!

I also love festivals & go mostly on my own. Try to do 3-5 a year. 2016 & 2017 being big years with back to back Glastonburys!

I’ve made a very approximate estimate, as I really don’t want to know what the total actually is. When you factor overnight stays, dog kennels etc. We usually have our main holiday in the school summer holiday and then go away for a week to France or Europe for the may and October half terms. Plus weekends away, it’s mad really.

Our first Florida trip in 2015 (since our honeymoon a LONG time ago) was with the kids (aged 10 and 6 at the time) cost around £6k, which I thought was a bargain for 13 nights at the time staying on IDrive with SUV Car doing Disney and Universal, and Kennedy and Legoland!

This 2021 trip, if it happens, is likely to cost around £10k for direct flights, 14 nights split gulf coast and Orlando, with Car, Universal and Disney, and staying onsite Universal.

I used to think that holidays were a waste of money, as after a couple of weeks they're gone and so has the money, but in 2015 I had a complete change of heart as the memories and family experiences we take with us are more precious than any amount of money and like so many have said noone knows what's around the corner or how long you'd be able to go for.

It's still a massive amount of money and I'm aware that we're very lucky we can afford to do this, especially after this last year.

We have quite a basic income so im in the 2-3k bracket. That gets us 9 nights away in Florida for 2a/2c in a lovely 2-3 bed hotel apartment during a low cost school holiday period (Feb), we also go for the cheaper Seaworld/3 park tickets. Not done Disney or Universal. We take fair amount of food from the UK and have maybe one-two meals out to keep spending money low.

We have such an amazing time and i LOVE our yearly holidays - cant wait for more xxx

Circa £10,000. This is why we go (usually) every 2 years. Cannot honestly justify it every year but we do Center Parcs yearly at £1200.

I couldn’t spend that amount of money and neglect the house 👍
