For me, it adds an element of foreboding that is adding to the anticipation of riding the attraction. That said, they could use something else that could achieve the same effect. For instance, a giant face of a cackling Hatbox Ghost would be great (even more if they added him to the MK version of the ride).

I agree with your point. These elements do add to the ride experience.

Death by suicide is considered particularly traumatic and often results in 'complicated grief'. Whilst I don't recall this particular scene and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride myself, I can see how those affected by suicide may find this very upsetting.

I don't think eliminating the hanging figure (to which, like others, I was oblivious) would be too detrimental to most of us, and if it's of benefit to those who find it upsetting than it's a win-win situation. I'm not a 'Disney purist' and people should always come first.

😂😂I thought it was just me as I’ve never noticed it either in all the years I’ve ridden it - sadly we have also lost someone to suicide by hanging but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t trigger anything for me, haunted mansions one of my favourite rides to do !

My uncle hung himself in the loft when my 2 cousins were 2 and about 3 months old. He drank and smoked lots and suffered bad depression but I wouldn’t think that about a ride. Disney really worried about upsetting everyone with this, removing of the sale of women on POTC, the retheme of Splash Mountain, Scenes changed on the jungle cruise and I even heard Peter Pan gonna change they Indian village scene.
