DS paid £800 into DH's account via the Post Office last week, no queries, no questions.

I’ve given up going to my “local” bank to deposit cash. It’s such a faff and not as nearly as local as it used to be. Instead, I put it in via the post office. So much easier.

My darling wife used to work in the bank and they had to ask that question due to compliance.

Someone had given my DH a cheque and as I was going to the bank anyway, I took the cheque to pay it into his account, the cashier said it could not be paid in as he hadn't signed the back of it, so I turned it over and signed his name and handed it back to her and she accepted it!

Actually I know what cash is. My mum gave me £20 a few weeks ago . First time having cash in a long time.
I got caught money laundering last week. Left my wallet in jeans pocket and luckily the notes are plastic now. Unfortunately my national trust membership card didn't fair so well

They can still disintegrate, we kept finding bits of a tenner in our washing machine, I washed my sons iPod once and had to replace it!

pay into your own, make a money transfer. proceeds of crime and mo ey laundering means the bank can ask as many queations as they like, they get audited too and if staff arent being vigilant then this is a serious thing for them.

irony is, most laundering happens with international transfers anyway and these arent regulated as much.

We struggle when a customer, rarely fortunately, pays my DH in cash, I can’t pay the money into the account so he has to take it himself which involves getting to work later than normal, trying to find space first of all to park the van in the middle of town & then the next issue is will the bank be open, the opening times are like a little secret we’ve not been let in on, im sure they wait for us to think we know them switch the times again
