My van insurance renewal

We changed our works van last month and it’s insurance renewal is next month. I got my renewal came through via a broker who we have used for decades. The van renewal came through at £834. I had a quick look online and via top cash back with direct line £281 and £52 cash back. I do think that is quite a big saving.

Wow! That’s a massive saving! This post reminds me that I need to ring my insurance company up. Their quote for my fiesta is £550 ish which is £200 more than other quotes that I’ve been getting.

Husband has had his van and liability insurance with Direct Line for a few years now. I check the new customer prices and DL always match. I think DL get over looked a bit because they are not on comparison sites.
Loyalty no longer pays unfortunately.

Even without the £52 cash back it was still a brilliant quote, it included a replacement courtesy van and legal cover.

Mmm. Think I would be asking the Broker what is going on.

Then I would be chopping him.

I renewed DH's Peugeot Boxer with Post Office for £231. I was surprised as it was a renewal. Wasn't worth my time shopping around, don't think I would have got a better deal.

DH has a van for his business and the renewal came through in March it was going from £328 to £587.
We went on a comparison site and got new insurance for £238 with exactly the same cover.
When he phoned Hastings to cancel they said they could match it he declined and went with the new company.
Don’t understand why they couldn’t just give him insurance at a reasonable price instead of hiking it up almost £240.
The annoying thing is it stood on the drive for 8 months out of the last 13 months as he hasn’t been allowed to work.

I did and have. I will keep them for my public liability though if I have a problem they deal with it.

I think a lot of companies hope we will just renew without checking. I always compare for all my insurances and if the renewal is way out, then I’m gone. No time for them trying to price match after they’ve been found out.

Exactly what DH said.
He told whoever he spoke to at Hastings if they had quoted somewhere close to what he paid last year he would’ve renewed but he felt like they were pulling a fast one.
