ESTA email, is this new?

We did our ESTAs yesterday. All pretty straightforward as always. Got the usual "pending" message. Told DH I wasnt going to be my usual paranoid self, checking constantly to see if they had been approved, and went to make a cup of tea. About 15 minutes later l got an email headed ESTA status change. Logged on and we'd been approved. Is this email notification something new, or am I the only Dibber that didn't know?

I was pleasantly surprised to get the email. I’m sure I didn’t last time.

I had an email back in 2020. It is good to keep hold of.

ESTA query

I know people have been applying for an ESTA throughout the pandemic but I seem to recall reading that if you add your advanced passenger information there is often a problem with authorisation. Does this mean when applying I should not include where I’m intending on staying for the first night (not even sure this is an option to not included this!). Many thanks

It means you don't go onto your airline site and fill in the advanced passenger information there.

As for the emails, got them with our last ESTA which is just about to expire.

My ESTA was approved after I filled out all our API stuff on BA site. Why would this cause an issue, does anyone know?
