Always been like that.
BA seating policy is odd, fly in first and you'll get your seat selection for free, add a domestic connection and you'll pay for seat selection on the domestic leg at time of booking. Fly in premium economy and you'll pay for seat selection but your domestic connection you'll get seat selection free at time of booking Edited at 10:45 PM. |

You can choose a seat free at check in but if you want a guaranteed seat then you have to pay. Which do you prefer - that they put up the air fare or give you a choice to pay the extra or not?
