Thomas Cook check in online - Manchester

If I check in online the day before, when I get to the airport is there a seperate line where I can just leave my bag or is there just the one queue to join. Thanks

Yes there is a seperate bag drop line with machines. I'd recommend printing your boarding passes.
I just had them on my phone but the machine wouldn't read them.
People who hadn't done online check in or not printed/shown on phone had to use the regular (fairly long) check in line

Definitely check in online ... the queue for those that hadn't was massive and chaotic. We just walked past them to the machines.

Have you thought about twilight check in?

Check in all your luggage the night before then just go straight to security on flight day.
If one person goes with all the luggage it's only £5.
You're fairly local like us, it wasn't too much hassle when I did it last year.
No queue the night before as they have a dedicated check in desk.

its a bit like using the self serve machines at the supermarket...

its supposed to be fast and swishy but...

unexpected item in bagging area!

Its like a touch screen, a scanner and a scale.

You do the process for each bag, need to scan a boarding pass, weigh a case, it prints a label - then repeat for each case you have... then you move the cases forward and onto a conveyor belt... as I say supposed to be easy but with kids and beeping machines it can be more bothersome.

Has the system changed ? ... I thought it was £5 pp and that all your party had to be present at the desk to do twilight ... plus you needed to present your hand luggage for inspection too ?

When we went in May 2016, you could go on your own to twilight as long as you had everybody's passports and boarding cards from OLCI with you.
So I checked us all in online, printed out the cards then went to the airport.
Dedicated desk so there was no queue, checked in the suitcases. Charged me £5. No mention of hand luggage.
