Cost of seat reservation increased - BA

We don't fly until February next year. We fly from Gatwick and I understand these planes are being refurbished over the winter. So we might, or might not get a different seating configuration.

As a result, I've checked a couple of times because I think I will want to book seats. Just noticed today that the cheapest seat booking had been £18 per person but this is now £20.

I didn't realise that they change the seat reservations fees. Is this normal practise? Are they likely to keep going up then?

Also still cheaper than VA - I imagine they will easily explain it away too if they are undergoing refurbishments

We have booked for April 18, flying LHR -MIA. Seat booking has risen from £25 for the cheapest to now £28. They will probably keep rising till we go.

We noticed that the price to pay for your seat when we booked, went up when I checked back into the seating plan later just a couple of days later. I just kept checking the seating plan. Very few seats were being reserved so we didn't bother and saved the cash to spend in Florida.

But you can't now with BA! They will allocate you seats and if you want to move them, they charge you for the luxury!

Since when? I've always done it via my executive club account.
