My mum got asked for ID at Bahama Breeze when she was about 50 so if you want a drink you will need it
Somebody mentioned on another post about applying for a provisional driving licence. Think it’s about £15-17 but it gives you another form of photo ID which may be handy at home too Edited at 08:40 AM. |

Thanks for all your responses, very helpful. The Dibb is the only forum I've ever joined and so pleased I have!
Will look into getting provisional driving licences. It's no great shakes if we can't have a drink with dinner, I just don't want us falling foul of US laws. |

Thanks for the link. So does that mean that you have to have two forms of original ID? No photos on phones etc?
I think we were just lucky last trip as we didn't take our ID into the parks and they only time DS was asked was at our resort, so easy enough for him to pop back to the room.

It is 2 forms of ID but the one form can be a photocopy or a photo of the Passport.
I never get asked but my Son does a lot even though he is 28 and my Daughter did last year and she is 30 They are more than happy with the D/Lic and a photocopy of the Passport albeit they also have the phone image as a back up.. We keep an A4 photocopy sheet of the 4 Passports in my wallet all folded up for 2 reasons 1. Handy to have the numbers in case they get lost 2. We are annual passholders and get freebies at Epcot but they want additional photo ID for that.

Thanks Mr TM - good idea, I have photo copies of all our passports for security reasons, will pop an additional copy in my bag too.
Just to add, there never seems to be questions asked at Universal! They seem very laid back about it.

I had a provisional driving licence for about 2 years before I went for driving lessons and converted it to a full one! It was really handy to have as ID for buying alcohol in Sainsbury's for example.
I find that I will always get asked for ID and kiosks e.g. Epcot festival kiosks. I have never been asked for ID at signature restaurants.

In 2015 my over 60 father in law got asked for ID in Big River Grill on Boardwalk. He wasn't happy that he couldn't have a beer but I had warned him about the policy which he didn't think would matter as he is clearly over 21. It was great when I pulled out my driving license and photo of my passport on my phone to order a cocktail The server kept an eye on us all night making sure we didn't order an alcoholic drink and pass it to him!

No apologies are needed. You should see some of the wrong stuff I have posted!
I did a huge response this week to somebody about a rental car and 6 hours later realised I had researched the wrong company! Also bear in mind it's Disneys policy not a US one. I have been travelling to the States since I was 21 back in 1976 and have never been asked for ID. I must have always looked an old fart.

Provisional driving licence now costs £34. It was only £17 when I learnt to drive but that was long time ago now! I only know as my son applied for his this week as he turns 17 soon and is desperate to learn to drive. For OP’s info, you don’t need to get photos taken for your licence application if you decide to get one as they can use the photo from your passport.
