As of the 27th July, Ford had circa 60k-70k vehicles awaiting chips, I'm guessing other vehicle manufacturers may be in a similar situation. See the article HERE.

Apparently there are long dealer wait lists keen to fulfil customer orders. Can't remember which thread; I read that due to vehicle price Joe Public orders will be filled afore car hire suppliers, it could be well into 2022 before car hire suppliers can begin replacing sold itinerary. Of course, in the main, it's conjecture and only time will tell.

I've just checked with a customer who arrived on 21st July and had booked with Thrifty... Lack of staff = 45 minute wait. Hard up sell. Only one pickup truck available in their booked category which was heavily scratched along one side. Not sure on the availability in other categories.

Read comments from a chap who's pal works as a 'parker' for Ford at the Kentucky speedway, where Ford are raking up storage fees. Apparently parkers hold a chip taken between vehicles to enable parking.
