Our Nationwide Policy does include this but I don't see how it would really help unless the villa owner was made bankrupt as only covers "financial failure" not anything like scams (no disrespect to DIBB owners intended). Maybe I'm misunderstanding but if you pay by bank transfer there is obviously "risk" involved that insurance will not cover.

Really? We are already almost completely booked for August 2020. We have never had a quiet August

We booked via big companies in the beginning, but for the past 10 visits have gone direct to owner. We get exactly the villa we want (we have become very fussy, lake view 10 minutes from Disney, south facing pool) and have never had a problem. As others have said, do your research check reviews speak to others who have done it. We have always had security deposit returned when we are back home, so it’s the way we like to do it.

As an owner we recommend when you do your holiday insurance you make sure you have end user services cover this will cover you should you have problems, with the big companies they rent all villas from a third party so have no control of where they are or what state they are in. Abta sounds great but trying to get the big companies to help you can be an issue because they rent the properties them selves there are many face book pages for Orlando villas and most check owners details and make sure all taxes are up to date etc
