Which camera?
Hi all,
I was looking for a new handheld camera that is both good for general video and photo taking (mostly whilst around parks), and was hoping you could help me with my decision. I have been recommended either: Sony ZV-1 -or- Canon G7X MkIII I have used both the G7X MkI and MkII, but am happy to move to something else if the general feeling is that it would be better. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated Happy Dibb-ing!

Whilst camera phones generally are okay you're never going to beat a handheld, especially with things like optical zoom.
I'm not sure I could pick as I've used Canon in the past (mainly the G7-9) and currently use Sony HX range and found both great, although perhaps the Canon edges it slightly. This probably isn't much help, or maybe it will be, but I watch both Paging Mr Morrow and Super Enthused vloggers and they both use the Canon from what I've seen and in terms of HD quality it's quite impressive, so give them a look on YouTube.

I’d probably go with the ZV1 for it’s much better video capabilities, but slightly worse photos. The RX100 VII I think is better though if you can stretch or hold on and there’s rumours of a new RX100 VIII potentially with 2 lens options (if true I’d go for the one with the widest aperture).
I have a Panasonic G9 and this reminds me I have to get out and test my new Sigma 16mm F1.3!

Just bought the ZV-1. The autofocus is fantastic compared to the Canon. The image stability is not as good.
It is primarily pitched as a vlogging camera whereas I think the g7x is a little more of an all rounder. I've yet to even take a photo on ours as we have an SLR for that Edited at 05:43 PM. |

Thank you all for your replies so far! I will check out the videos/youtubers as suggested and see what I think!

I have watched a few compare videos on both and the Sony really wins for me . I love the Sony Gimbal too it looks so good! I am currently using a Go pro and my DSLR had considered a mirrorless Nikon but the Sony is half the weight!
