More questions!
We’re looking at a BA fly drive with Avis. Does this include all the insurance we need or do we need to pay for extras?
Also, a couple of questions on baby seats. Do you recommend bringing our own including the Isofix base? Will this meet US safety requirements? I’ve thought about adding one to the rental but my only concern is DS will be 11 months when we travel and needs to be in a rear facing seat.

No extras needed with BA0 Just need to add fuel.
We have always took our own baby seats, they used to fit in the cars no problem |

We’re just about to have our 1st baby in July. Got trips booked for November, March and august.
Everything I’ve read over the last few months says no, our isofix seats do not fit over there. We’re gonna buy a separate seat to take on our trips over there. One that attaches just via the seat belt. Edited at 08:16 PM. |

In the USA they call isofix System LATCH. I'm under the impression they're the same thing... Certainly look the same.

I’ve read about the LATCH system but still not sure. Some sources are saying it’s the same thing as isofix and others aren’t.
I definitely don’t want to transport our seat and base if it isn’t going to fit. Might consider renting one from Avis.

No, they are different.
Your wiki link: “ In the EU the system is known as Isofix and covers both Group 0/0+ and Group 1 child safety seats. The mechanism for attaching the seat to the lower anchors is quite different from that in the United States. In the EU two "alligator-like" clips connect the seat to the lower anchors rather than the open clip style connectors commonly used in the United States” |

I think thats referring to the connectors on the base... The U bend in the vehicle is still the same and will accept both the UK alligator clip and the US open clip.

Although most ignore it, most UK seats are not certified for use in the US and are therefore in theory illegal to use in Florida and could potentially have insurance implications. None on thedibb has mentioned it ever being an issue, myself included, but just to make you aware most are not approved for use in the US.
