We bought a Sunpass transponder for $19.95 in 2017 as pre-COVID we would travel over there 5 or 6 times a year. We put it in the windscreen of our rental vehicles and we are always charged tolls to our Sunpass account and never once has it failed to detect it and charge the rental company instead. I’m sure VTP will be the same.

I'm 99.99999% sure that you don't get "double dipped" by the hire car Sunpass scheme and the VTP but I can only ever offer an opinion based on Dibber's anecdotal evidence. Regular Dibbers like DonnaD and angelbabe who live over there obviously buy transponders from the likes of Publix and set up automatic top ups when they get low. They never get picked up by Sunpass either. I'm sure that the plaza technology sorts and filters transponders, Sunpass, VTP and cash passages. My VTP account in Nov 2019 showed what time and what lane I'd passed through and cost within 40 minutes of driving through.

It's a real pity that VTP confuse us (my post #10 )

When VTP went viral on here around the latter half of 2019 it's a pity that all those who used it having rented from Dollar haven't been on this or my other large VTP thread as to whether they had to decline their "attractive" offer.

Mick
