EHIC cards

Hi.

What is the situation now regarding EHIC cards, are they still valid for health treatment in EU countries for UK residents.

I know we left EU but I am not sure if I can remember if this was one of the bargaining points for the deal.

I believe they are still valid - they have been replaced by GHIC cards when renewed.

old e111 yes, at a spanish hospital for a suspected fracture (it wasnt). we had the option of private or e111atthe hospital. at that time our party didnt have insurance only e111. this is quite some time ago mind.

We�ve just received our new GHIC cards as our EHIC cards expire in a few weeks. We�ve never used our EHIC cards as we�ve never required any medical care while abroad. I think it was a condition of our holiday insurance that we had them though.

Yes, I had a dog attack me whilst I was in Poland and showed the card at the hospital. They just took some details down and treated me. It was pretty useful having the details on there too as i couldn't write. Never heard anything from it afterwards, it was all taken care of.
