Another Staysure fan for the past 4 or 5 years. Sadly we have to pay around £850 for annual cover but we're both 75 and post-cancer.
I check a dozen every year and they are always best price and best level of cover. Unlimited medical cover UNLESS we travel against FCDO advice - hopefully Joe and our FCDO will be singing from the same hymn sheet soon. Mick PS I use the word "fan" in it's widest sense. I meant to say they are the most competitive for a necessary product I haven't enjoyed the benefit of. Will be asking for a refund of last year's premium as a no-claims discount.

I've been having discussions on another thread re insurance.
I'd messed up with a Battleface quotation... don't ask, ok I only had myself down, not the Wife, or kids. I've run the quote again, and it's come back as £1550. We're looking at going to Mexico, and then into the USA from there. Does anyone else know of any other insurers that will insure where FCO advice is against non essential travel? I can't make out yet, whether todays twice jabbed news will change the FCO advice on Mexico, or the US. What a total nightmare, whatever route I try to take to get us across to Florida, there's obstacles in the way. Thought I had a plan... but can't afford that kind of insurance price. |

Sorry I can't help at all with travel insurance that will cover "FCDO contrary advice". Somebody on here recommended Battleface to me (after I posted that we were 75) but it took me 5 minutes to find that they only cover Covid up to the age of 59 and although they acknowledge PEMCs they don't actually insure for medical cover arising from them.
Very expensive toilet paper if you ask me. Staysure will do FCDO contrary cover but only for Europe. We're not travelling until November and our Staysure expires at the end of August so I'm not renewing straight away on the basis that my only risk of loss are the flights. If BA cancel again I'll simply ask for my money back - for the 4th time. Mick

Thanks Mick for the info.
If we just knew definitely that the FCO would be dropping the non essential travel caveat, I'd sit back, wait for the 19th, then book the insurance at that point. But BA will be wanting to know if I'm changing my flights to Cancun tomorrow... they're ringing us back. If it was just me, I'd risk it, but as a family we need cover. I'm 51 and in all the years I've had travel insurance, I've claimed once for a chiropractor in California. Cost a few hundred quid, & we ended up with thirty or so quid back 🤣 What a quandary... too many quandaries for my liking 😅 All the best. |
