7 seater with room for mobility scooter
We are going 13th-27th August. There are 7 of us plus we have a electric mobility scooter. We are not having much luck finding a car that the scooter will fit in. Can anyone help. It does not matter if all the suitcases do not fit in because a couple of us can go in a taxi to our villa. But we need o get the scooter in for when we go to the parks.

I would've thought you'd be better off going for something slightly larger than a 7 seater. We had a town and country last visit and I don't think you'd get a mobility scooter in the back if it's a full sized one. If it's one of those that are smaller and meant for shorter trips you may be able to. I don't have experience of any other 7 seaters. We've booked a Chevrolet Suburban for this years trip but don't think there much more boot space with all seats in use.

Can you give us an idea of the size of your mobility scooter.
One time I loaded one into an S-Max for a customer it was huge, the back and middle row of seats had to go down. Then there was one you can dismantle - that fitted in the boot of a C-Max (but with no space for anything else). If you have one you can dismantle i'm not even sure the tahoe will do it... You might need to go for a transit?

No, sorry you won't get a scooter in the back if all the seats are up. There were only two of us (free upgrade) but we had to get the staff member to put the third row flat for us - the boot space behind the 3rd row is dished, and even a small scooter wouldn't sit in it without damaging either the boot or the scooter!
If you have something like a Pride 10 which breaks down to platform and tiller, rear axle/motor, seat, 2 batteries and battery cover it's still going to take up a surprisingly large amount of space.

My recommendation would be to measure your scooter so you know exactly the space needed then drop and email to andy at discountfloridacarhire and see if he can help you out. He's a really helpful guy and comes highly recommend by various dibbers (including me) !

Hi,
We have hired a suburban twice now on both occasions we had 7 people and luggage as well. This was plenty big enough for all of us. Once at the villa we had arranged for scooter to be delivered to be used during the holiday. This fitted in easily in the boot with all the seats still up, in fact we was able to put the scooter in front to back allowing for buggy for littleun and all the necessary bags for the day as well |
