Disney dining plan - staying offsite?

Is it possible to purchase the dining plan if u r staying offsite? The reason I ask is that a friend of mine is staying at a hotel on international drive but has said that he has got the Disney dining plan and I wasn't sure if this was even possible? Lol. Wouldn't want him to get there and find it's something different to what he is thinking? xxx

Ps - he got upgraded to the dining plan... lol

No it's part of a package with hotel and tickets even if you buy it. They were trialling a version of the quick service plan that you could buy on a day to day basis but I'm not aware that continued.

No as others have said it is definitely not possible to stay offsite and have the Disney Dining Plan. Maybe he was upgraded to a Disney hotel too for some reason and he didn't realise? That is the only thing I can think of?

Or he has a universal dining plan as that can be bought while staying offsite?

Well Ive tried to tell him that it's not possible but he is adamant 😂 I'm not sure if he is just saying it to make me think 'that's a good deal' or what ha! I will try to tell him again but he probably won't listen. He is going in January and saying he can book fast passes 60 days in advance which again I thought was something that was a bonus from staying at Disney and normally it's 30?! Hmm... lol xxx

Yes you can only book fastpasses from 60 days out if he is staying on site. If he is staying offsite, he can only book from 30 days. Again, there is no way of getting around this so it is physically not possible.

The only thing I can think of is if he has been upgraded to a Disney hotel or something. Otherwise, he might want to speak to another travel agent...

make sure he's aware that TS are best to be booked now if he's got DDP rather than QSDP

I'd be wanting to look at his booking docs 😉. No way you can have DDP offsite x
