Help me with tipping!
Hi all
I'm not sure how the tipping culture works for counter service. I understand the minimum 15% at table service meals and to increase if you've received extra good service, tipping a dollar at a bar for a drink, tipping taxi drivers, the ME driver, the person who helps you with your bags if needed and Mousekeeping. But what about Counter Service? Do you tip your server? Leave a couple of dollars on your table when you're done? Do you not tip at all at counter service? Also do you tip your server in a store if they've given you great service?

No tips needed for quick service places. The only one we do sometimes tip at is Wolfgang Puck Express as you do have servers there even though you order at the counter. It does depend on the service though as we've had some who've been great and refilled drinks and taken care of us, and some who've literally just brought our food to the table and nothing more.

Oh, and I've never tipped someone in a shop and not heard of anyone else doing it either.

We don't tip there and haven't seen anyone else do it either. They bring your food out, but nothing else.

When you say 15% for TS do you mean off-site or on-site ? On-site expected tipping is 18% -20% & your bill will come with these expected amounts on them.

We also found that off site, lots of places are now adding the suggested tip at the bottom of your bill. Saves you working it out I suppose

Most places we ate at last month had 15, 18 and 20% all written on the bottom.
We used to tip when we got our car back from valet, this time we found they were looking for a tip both drop off and pick up which I suppose makes more sense as it wouldn't always be the same person.

The only QS we tip at is Wolfgang Pucks Express but one time it was so busy someone took our table as soon as we stood up so it made us think twice about leaving a tip there too.
