The airlines will know more than we know.
On another thread I speculated that the airlines will be in conversation behind the scenes with governments and that any moves they make will be informed by those conversations. I'm not sure people thought I was barking up the right tree.
Well, here's a news article with an airline boss: Richard Sofer, Tui's commercial director... told the PA news agency: 'Due to the size of our organisation we've been able to have a presence in each of those Government conversations through our aviation team or through the senior members of the UK business 'We're well-informed of where those discussions are. 'Obviously many of those conversations are confidential but that gives us great confidence to open up a small programme to a couple of really key countries, eight key gateways for us. 'We have absolute confidence that we're going to be getting a positive result from the Government in time for July.' So I retain my belief that if airlines are planning to fly that they will have done this on the basis of having been given some sort of nod from the respective governments. That's not to say events might still overtake.

I’m 100% with you... why wouldn’t they be in talks with the government? It’s the same with retail bosses and so forth, they will have direct contact with the government and will have more information than the general public.

I know exactly what the airlines have been told as we (NATS) have been told the same thing. To be honest it's nothing to get excited about as a lot is purely draft proposals as there are too many variables for any confirmed plans.

Hmmm...
Wellllll...I can only speculate about the US. But I don't think US airlines are told jack-diddly-squat and if they were, it would be leaked to the press almost as soon as the secret meeting was over. Interesting that it may be different there. |
