Oh good grief tell me about it! I've worked my bottom off and managed to get a payrise and have just been told I'm getting another! Makes the four hours a day of commuting worth it to know you're appreciated.

Totally worth all the hard work having Florida to look forward to as well

Same here... we have worked and economised so hard! Switched Tesco for Aldi, have had sacrificed any sort of socialising outside our home... although we find many people question our Florida plans... After all out efforts we fully deserve this trip~ so nice to hear of other people working their socks off for it

By the time we go we will have been saving hard for 18 months.
We both work full time and hubby also runs his own business so hes out most evenings and weekends, so lots of work to get the pennies to save.
I gave up smoking a year ago to help with the saving & hubby gave up on 1st jan this year.
I just hope it's going to live up to our expectations! (8 years since our last visit)

We booked last oct to go this oct, I work four nights a week and put all my wages away every week along with the family allowance every month and hubby also makes a monthly contribution from his wages, aswell as doin as much overtime as he can, we have weeks where we barely see each other,we won't be having any weekends away this year or breaks of any sort until we go, take aways are a thing of the past and we don't bother with nights out. But we are gonna have an amazing time when it comes around and our two kids are gonna have a blast!

I used to sell alot on ebay as a business and a private seller..

But tbh i think with the latest postage increase ,sellers are going to struggle... i mean who is going to pay 99p for a pair of jeans and £5 to post them?

Imo the only way to make it pay now is to stick to smaller items or use a courier like Hermes who charge £2.99..

As for the OP's original question every holiday is worked and saved hard for but not at the expense of living the other 50 weeks of the year. I'm not one of these people that can give up socialising,take-aways etc etc .

We have worked hard for this holiday but I'm like daytonababe, I wouldn't sacrifice everything the other 50 weeks of the year just to go on holiday.

That being said I have done overtime every month since we booked 14 months ago in order to pay for the trip. Looking forward to a normal 40hr week for a few months when we get back!

We are saving hard, being careful each month and using meal planner to reduce outgoings, kids are also saving, which I think helps them appreciate the large cost of the holiday... so far I have been surprised how much we can actually save when we put our minds to it and so looking forward to a great holiday!
