Venice!

DH surprised me with the news that he's booked us (family of four) into a hotel in Venice in the week before Christmas.
Kids didn't want to go away for actual Christmas (we would have!) so this is a wonderful compromise!
Very excited.
Used to go a lot before the kids were big enough for DLRP and WDW ... stayed there for actual christmas once when I was heavily pregnant with #1. DH had to run to the rialto market daily to keep me up to speed with my craving for clementines! So, it's lovely to be heading back - I expect our Venice compasses will not be as sharp as they once were though ...

I'm guessing all the markets will be lovely and Christmassy too!
We went on a food walking tour last time (a pudding one!) I would recommend that, the kids would love it too!

Ooh lovely! Thank you Charly. The food tour would be a great deal of fun... I did pizza making with my daughter when we went to Florence last Easter - was brilliant! Also viator.
I remember the christmas markets near the Academia from last time we went - I'm sure they'll be bigger and even better this far down the line (was about 10 years ago!).

We're there (staying on Murano) over New Year. Enjoy It's the first time for all of us, very much looking forward to it.

Off to check out that food tour now!

Just back and had a brilliant time.
Did the Accademia and Guggenheim and also the Vivaldi immersive exhibition. But mostly just walked, caught vaporetti, walked and ate! Can recommend a couple of good trattoria if anyone’s interested - family friendly and around €20 euros each - Della scala was great.
We’ve been to Venice and spent weeks at a time there before but this was our first time back in about ten years. It’s still stunning achingly beautiful. Not especially christmassy compared to some places though, the market at San Stefano was limited, but plenty of nice shopping and food!

Hi, I'm off to Venice in February with my friend and two godsons aged 8 and 11. Any recommendations would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks ☺
