Where to stay in Yosemite?

We’re doing a 3 week road trip next year - San Fransisco, Yosemite, LA, Anaheim, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon.

We’ve started looking at Yosemite accommodation first as I know that gets booked up really quickly and we’ll be there over the 4th July weekend. We’re finding it hard to decide where to stay but I think we’ve narrowed it down to:

Yosemite View Lodge £180 pn
Yosemite Valley Lodge £340 pn
Tenaya Lodge £304 pn
A private condo/Lodge in the Yosemite West, Wawona or Fish Camp areas - various prices.

I would appreciate any comments/recommendations on the best area to stay in and any comments on the accommodations I’ve listed above that might help us focus and make a decision.

Thanks

We stayed at Yosemite View Lodge last year and would recommend. It took us about 15/20 mins to drive to the valley floor in the morning. They had loads of pools and hot tubs to relax in after a day hiking.

We have stayed at both Yosemite View Lodge and Yosemite Valley View (in the park itself)

To be honest as much as we loved staying inside the park I would go back to Yosemite View Lodge just outside the park in a heartbeat. It's about a 15/20 drive to the valley and the accommodation was fantastic. If you do stay here I highly recommend a room with a river view - spectacular!

We also stayed over the 4th July holiday and the park will be heaving and parking a bit of a nightmare. Once you do find a space just keep your car there for the rest of the day and use the free transport provided to move around the park.

A big highlight for us was Glacier Point! Not to be missed. You will need to take your car up there though

You'll have an amazing time. It's our favourite part of America

Thanks for your comments everyone.

For those that have used it how was the free transport in the park? Does it come regularly? Was it very busy?

Given how busy it’s likely to be at that time of year I’m wondering if using the YARTS bus to get into the park from Yosemite View Lodge is a good option?
