Maldives or Hawai’i (Aulani)
Both on bucket list but unable to do both in close timeframe.
In our 30’s with a 9yr old son loves wildlife and would love to take him somewhere beautiful to turtles, fish, dolphins and other marine life in their natural home. Anyone been to both? Which would you go back to? |

I've been to both, and if I could, I would go back to either, so to some extent it doesn't matter which you choose.
I can't really advise for your son, but when my children were that age, it would definitely have been Aulani as there is far more for a 9 year old to do there than on a typical Maldivian island. Also, as Oahu is a bigger island, there are lots of other things to do and see if you need. In terms of snorkelling, the quiet waters around the Maldives are certainly teeming with fish. But as I say, can't really go wrong either way. Enjoy EC |

I've been to both.
Two contrasting experiences. I have two boys 10 and 14 and would probably take them to Hawaii if I had to choose one over the other. |

I've been to both, Hawaii once (The Big Island, not Aulani) and The Maldives several times so I guess that answers your question for me personally
