The Doubletree at Chrystal City , right next to Ronald Reagan airport.

It is new, clean and great value.

On the 12th floor there is a revolving restaurant that gives great view of the Mall... every 15 minutes

It is a $5 taxi to the Lincoln memorial at the bottom of the Mall.

If we returned, then I would definitely stay at this hotel.

Re flying in yes Dulles is best and we have had quite a quite quick pass through immigration. As for where to stay, we have preferred to stay in Alexandria plenty of great restaurants etc along King Street at night. We have stayed in the Hilton Old Town Alexandria. This is right beside the King St Metro station. We bought the travel card and used the Metro each day. The use is clean,quick and and easy to use.

We also stayed in Alexandria in an Airbnb. Was a lovely place. Loved Alexandria on an evening, so many nice places to eat and drink. We flew into Ronald Reagan airport. It’s right in the centre and was a 5 minute cab ride to where we were staying.
