Not tied to school hols I'd get saving and planning then go for a last minute deal unless a bargain thread pops up (we are flying Man into Miami this August for £276 return)

You can always get reasonably priced accommodation in Orlando.

The cheap flight is the key. Thomson do cheapies late April/early may every year and often first week of September too (Basically times people with kids definitely don't go due to exams and start of term)

Then offsite accommodation and eats. Plus don't overbuy tickets.

Look into seasonal annual pass at universal, costs little more than a 14 day ticket and well worth it if you can squeeze in 2 trips.

Saved us £1500!

I really have to look out for those BA deals this year. Be great to get Tampa and car for those kinds of fares.

Last year the flash sale for these flights was around the 9/10 Sept and lasted 4 days I think. We were lucky in that it was exactly at our 11mth mark and we could grab a bargain - you have an even better chance if you can be flexible with your dates.

Flexible in a 6 week period but couldn't go into September. Will keep an eye though, hopefully somebody here on Dibb will alert me!

There is usually a thread going (or two!)

I think that the day we fly this year (9 Aug 2017) was the last day you could get sale prices for as we booked them first thing in the morning on 12 Sept 2016 and by that evening they'd shot back up to £3000.

So if it's the same this year you should get something for the first week or so next Aug.

We stay DVC but we don't eat onsite very often. Cheaper eats are available offsite.
Also we are quite selective on which theme park tickets we choose too.
Can I ask, are you DVC members or do you just rent points? We're trying to put a plan together for Easter and would love to stay onsite for a few days. DDP is not available for Easter so I'm wondering if it will be cheaper to rent points and book that way? We would eat offsite to save $$$'s too.

Thanks for all that info, sounds like it would be perfect for us.

Can you remember if it was a few airports it was from, or just London?

People have mentioned villas being cheap - I think this is only the case of there are quite a few of you to spread the cost. For just two, or even four, hotels / apartments / condos might be cheaper.

Have a look at some of the hotels that have rooms with kitchenettes and also free breakfast. We stay in the Extended Stay, Lake Buena Vista - usually around £50 for the room, which sleeps 4 - it also includes breakfast.

Check out indirect flights, but beware of the total flight time. Flights are usually cheaper as soon as they are released, when the cheaper seats have sold out, prices start to go up. Flights are released 12, 11, or 10 months in advance. Norwegian airlines release their flights in seasonal blocks - ok if your inbound and outbound flights are in the same season and can be booked at the same time.

No problem.

It was definitely Manchester and London airports can't remember about others.

Hope you manage to bag one!
