Found out dd loves a country drive so we set off in the car today and had a short drive (not too long due to tier 4), was a good chance to chat, came home and she actually stayed in the kitchen with me for a whole 30 mins and helped me with some baking, there is some light , just need to see my son now, not seen him much today ... getting there

That’s good news, baking could be something you do together sometimes and a drive out together gives you time to chat too.

Boys can be harder I found, when our boys were teenagers I found watching a tv show together was our best thing to do together. We found a few series they loved, X files, Star Gate and Star Trek Next Generation were popular (a long time ago 😂 )

Star Trek - the newer series works too! And we’ve found Top Gear works on occasion (even dd will watch that and none of us are petrol heads - it’s just funny!), His Dark Materials have worked for all of us too and Doctor Who -although that might be waining! Black Mirror or the Bourne films worked with ds too

Grand Tour is another good new Top Gear type of programme. Our DD has enjoyed the Dark Materials series with us and Dr Who is another favourite. I think once you find a series or a genre they like, it’s not so difficult to find things to enjoy together

Wildlife/conservation programmes have always been popular with ours too, especially DD who is now a Biology student, which can start a lot of lively conversations

The drives certainly appeal to dd , would prefer walks but I;ll take driving for now ! It gets her out of her room anyway. Ds is tricky as with his gf all the time , he likes going for a coffee together so as soon as we can , we will and have a catch up. x

DS is 18 next week, he does sit with me and watch some strange things... Stranger things, Home and Away, Desperate Housewives.

If he is not interested in a programme or film he is either on the PS downstairs or in his room. No sign of a girlfriend yet but he is autistic with social issues.
