I did both at school and still convert metric back into imperial when I’m baking something , measuring fabric ribbon etc , buying meat fish veg

Used to get out of youth club, bout 13/14 old, pop in the offy, get a pint of courage bitter, and use the road sign to get the top off.

I work in construction and still convert and mix metric to imperial. Example 15mm 8 by 4 wallboards! Easier to say than 2400 x 1220mm. Everyone does the same in speech, in wording/typed its all metric.
