Do I need to take towels staying onsite?

We're staying in SSR and then Universal for a couple of nights and wondered if we need to take towels for the swimming pool etc?

No, all except the value resorts have towels by the pool that you just pick up and use, then drop them in a used towel bin when you're finished with them. You can even take them to the water parks if you want to.

at the saratoga spring you will have towels in your room and every pool around the resort has a supply of fresh white pool towels for you to use

so you dont need to take any with you

We never take towels - why take that bulk and weight. WDW and Universal will supply them. We will purchase some from Walmart for use at water parks etc and generally leave them

At ssr just take towels from room & call housekeeping who will bring new ones to your room

There is a note in our room at CSR advising us to take room towels to the quiet pool.

SSR have loads of towels available at all of the pools, and we just popped in on the way to Typhoon Lagoon to pick some up that we left in TL.

In Royal Pacific there are also towels freely available around the pool, and you will also be offered rolled-up ones for your head, chilled ones to cool you off and extra ones to drape over yourself.

Definately no need to take any with you.
