iPhone and Apple Watch steps

I’ve been using my iPhone to count my steps sets but it’s impractical sometimes as I don’t always have pockets. My son has given me his Apple Watch and it’s now synced to me phone but they both seem to count steps independently. Is there anyway I can sync the 2 so they show the same data?

Its all a bit random anyway. I have apple phone and a garmin golf watch. At the end of any round they give me completely different figures.

Assuming you have your watch on all just go by that. As you say phone will be less unless you’re carrying it everywhere.

Colette, my advice as an expert in these matters is to forget about the iwatch but go for a brisk walk everyday for at least an hour at a time, do some very light weight exercises, eat healthy food and cut the rubbish out and give up alcohol during the challenge and I guarantee you will lose weight.

My Apple Watch, the Health app on my iPhone and the Fitness app on my iPhone are always in sync, other than if I open up Health immediately after finishing a walk, in which case it may take a few seconds to catch up.

If yours aren't I think it may be related to how Health is setup.

Open Health and go to Activity > Steps > (scroll down) > Data Sources & Access.

I think you want the Apple Watch to be the top-most item in that list.

Mine are in synch too, mostly.
It is handy but I mostly go by meeting my move/exercise goals which I set myself rather than just steps. I find achieving those quite rewarding lol!
