Virgin price drop. Man-mco

So I’ve been watching flight prices for a few weeks for Aug school holidays with Virgin.

For 2 adults and 3 children they were coming in around £4,800. Checked this morning and they have dropped to £2,500 for all 5 of us. Booked it straight away as we have the option to not go (even if the flights are still on) and move anywhere up to Dec 2022 under their current booking terms.

Thought I would mention it in case anyone was pricing things up. I haven’t seen prices like this for Aug holidays from Manchester since early 2000s.

Hope it helps someone.

30th July - 19th August for us.

This was for the usually more expensive earlier flight out and back as well.

Yes, some great prices. Holding back because I don't fancy wearing mask in 90 degree heat. Hopefully, these restrictions will be removed by summer.

£2500 return for 2 adults + 3 children, direct, in school holidays is a very good price IMO. Well done! Just hope the holiday goes ahead as planned.

This is an excellent price, what is their cancellation / change policy now?

If the flight is cancelled by them, you can get a full refund.

However you can choose just not to fly at all if you don’t want to (you need to give at least 24 hours notice prior to the flight if you don’t intend on flying). You can then rebook a different flight or if there isn’t a flight you want, you can take a credit note valid until end 2022.

You can change date of flights twice free, and if the flight price is up to £60 HIGHER than what you paid, they will give you it for free. If it’s more than £60 more, you pay the difference over £60.

If we don’t get to Orlando this year, we’ll just take a credit note and move it to next year. If the flights to Orlando are really expensive next year we’ll find a different destination to use the credit (maybe a cheeky New York trip, just myself and the wife lol).

Purchased during the 50% reward seat sale - 47k of miles + £638pp T&Fs for UC, bargain! Booked 28 Feb to 28 May, correctly gambling on cancellation, VS email advised our tickets are held as a credit up to Dec 2022. We'll use the tickets for next winter, if VS are still in business and covid is, hopefully, under control!

The biggest issue now is if they are still in business, really hope they are and finger’s crossed but the auditors did warn in the accounts that they may not be. They just did another refinancing which gives them 70m to keep going. This is in the Telegraph:

“ But accounts to be published at Companies House in the coming days, and seen by The Sunday Telegraph, reveal the airline’s auditors were prepared to sign off the company's finances.

Nevertheless, KPMG did red flag the accounts. The accountant said that there was “material uncertainty” over Virgin Atlantic’s ability to operate as a going concern - a disclosure that will cast continued doubt over the airline’s long-term future.”

It would be awful if it can’t keep going - we need to get back to holidays ASAP.

Don’t forget though as you booked in the sale you will only be offered to value of your reward, ie if you rebooked when not in the sale for upper class you will have to add 50% on more miles.
