Someone on our nrighbourhood FB page has just said it was an RAF plane intercepting a plane at Stansted.

Oh that was it. DH came running into the house from his mancave as he said he thought something exploded.

I didn’t hear it, we are twenty minutes drive from Stansted

Heard it here in Chelmsford. So loud and checked the house for a bird hit, it shook the house!

We heard it and watched the vapour trail, plane disappeared fast. 40 mins from Stansted

Last sonic boom i heard was at Kennedy Space Center when we watched a re entry of the shuttle in 2002!
