Sorry should have said £450.

This is what he charges on average per window. Obviously give or take depending on size, openings, colour etc.

We had ours replaced only last week.
We had four quotes with 3 ranging from £5000 to £6000, one company quoted £10000, this was for 9 windows and 3 doors (2 external and 1 internal porch). One of the windows was huge.
We went for the middle quote based on recommendation and ended up invoiced at £300 less than the quote.
As for the expensive quote which we disregarded straight away, the company sent a letter saying they had a 40% off sale so could reduce the original quote to £6000, bringing that company to around the same cost. We still disregarded as we felt that it was a con compared to the other companies.
Like others have said I would get a number of quotes, remove the outliers and focus on similar, then if you can go with recommendation rather than the cheapest.

My 6 windows including a bay, new back door plus changing a window for french doors were done in 2001 and cost £6500 here in Chelmsford. A small local company who did a perfect job.

I got a quote from Anglian Windows at the same time as - £11,000 plus and gradually they brought it done to £6,000. I told them where to go. 🤬

17 years later the same local company knocked through a solid wall and put in a new window, £1,100 and again a great job.

Very high mark up on UPVC windows and doors and they don't cost much to make (I do accept that the quality can vary). I've installed some smaller upvc windows myself and upvc french doors. I've also replaced the blown sealed window units myself (usually very easy to do). I was quoted around £280 with vat to replace a large sealed unit in my front room (ground floor) and I bought the unit myself and took the old one out and fitted the new one in around an hour, and it cost me about £75 for the sealed unit.
