Hi Anita,

We went 5th Jan to 19th Jan this year, and I got help from Dave.

We had 1 day of rain, but it was warm , 2 days when we were in trousers all day, but the rest of the time we managed shorts for most of the day. We packed thin fleeces which we did wear on some nights.

Laughed at all the Americans in gloves, jumpers and thick coats when we were in shorts, but they were probably laughing at us as well ,

Were already booked for Jan 2003..see you there.

We've done Januarys for the last 7 years and a few before that ,

You can get cold snaps of upto 3-4 days where it will be freezing, winter coat weather BUT blazing sunshine and fabulous blue skys, you can get days in the 80's, what you don't get is consistancy, the weather guys are very good at telling you theres a freeze due next thursday and they are normally right ,
Its a great time as everywhere is empty, we were in places like Chef Mickeys and it was empty, we just walked into the Rose and Crown and got a table for Illuminations, ( kids got to start the show).

We tend to take shorts/ t shirts and track suit/ joggers and our ski type jackets, that way you can take layers off as the day goes from cold to hot to freezing, also take advantage of the lockers at the parks.
This year our first Fantasmic showing they were selling Hot Chocolate and it was an icy cold night. Two nights later we sat there in shorts and t shirts and they were selling ice creams. Go prepapred and you'll be fine, we used to be die hard Brit tourists and insist on wearing our summer clothes all the time...result we all got colds ,

Hi Anita

We were there from 26th January until the 2nd February this year - A couple of mornings were misty - but sunny and warm by lunchtime.  The only rain we had was one evening and it wasn't enough to wet the ground.  It was in the mid to high eighties most days - like the hottest days we have here in the Summer.

My friend was there over Xmas and the New Year and had cooler weather.  I found the weather forecasts on TV to be very helpful and accurate and I looked at weather.com online for a while before we went.  Dave's trip reports helped a lot too.

I had packed layers, but wished I had more summer clothes with me - more shorts!  We didn't go to the water parks but we got a good soaking in AK on the Kali water rapids!  Typhoon Lagoon was open from 9am to 5pm but Blizzard beach was being refurbished.  we stayed at CBR and the pools were all heated and being well used.

Hope you have a great time

Anita, we will also be there in Jan (Dec 26-10 Jan) so we will pass like ships in the night! ,

I am looking forward to the crowds disappearing once we get past new Years.  We are booking Discovery Cove for Jan 2nd so really hoping that we get a warm day and it won't be too freezing! .

Don't worry Mazzy, the wetsuits will keep you warm - just ask for the full ones.

We have also been in January and loved it. The weather was a tad chilly (we had frosty windscreen on the car a couple of mornings) but it was more than made up for by the fact that the parks are virtually empty.

One word of advice - don't buy hopper passes with too many 'pluses' on them as the only water park open will be Typhoon Lagoon and you may not want to go there too many times 'just to use up the tickets'.

Wet and Wild is open year round and the water is heated.  They are currently refurbising the kids section too.
