BA Club world
BA are coming out a lot cheaper than VA and its looking like we may end up going with them but friend isn't so convinced!
She's seen a few you tube videos and reckons the seat area looks very pokey! I've tried to say to her it's only for 9 hours and would you rather be sat in economy but she is not impressed! Can anyone share any experiences and that it was all okay? Also can anyone advise if you are sat in a window seat and a friend is in the aisle seat, is it the friend you may end up stepping over if you wanted to get out of the window seat or someone else? Thanks |

I like CW. I’ve never travelled in Virgin UC because it’s always a good few hundred ££s more.
Can’t help with the seats. I go solo and have a window seat immediately behind the galley, with the footrest attached to the wall. So I don’t have to climb over any legs. It faces backwards. The aisle seat next to “mine” faces forward so if you have the screen down you are facing each other. |

We book the double seats in the middle, so no window view, but it’s nice and roomy, faces backwards, but the two seats are side by side. You do have to step over legs if the aisle person has their footstool out. But it’s not normally too tricky, and we don’t go about the cabin, just to the loo.
I can’t imagine going on a lower cabin now. CW suits us.

We find BA Club fine.
I’ve seen YouTube VA Upper Class seats & they look horrendous to me & our thoughts on trying VA for a change have been well & truly shelved after seeing them. |

Travelled BA CW 4a/4b no stepping over anyone, excellent food and service, plenty of storage space and first off at both ends of the journey

We have been both BA lib world and Virgin upper class
BA for us every time hands down we book the double seats in the middle I do t get up till about 45 mins before we land to go clean my teeth etc DH is upNd down like a yo-yo ( one of the reasons we don’t travel well together unless in club world ) he never has an issue steppping over anybody but he’s 6/2 and all legs Food is also better for me being gluten free on BA |

It’s not common to find many people who like both BA and Virgin business class. There are numerous differences beyond the different brand images and styles of the two carriers, so a tendency to polarise opinion.
Seat-wise, while Virgin’s seat is wider, I share the view of a couple of posters above that it’s somehow less comfortable as a bed, and has less variety of positions. I’m not a big fan of Virgin’s herringbone layout in UC, though of course Virgin offers aisle access to all seats, which is an advantage (people are bothered to various degrees by this issue on BA). BA window seats are very private, but most of them require the step over to reach the aisle. The aisle seats are quite exposed. The centre pairs are good for couples, not so for solo travellers, you’re just a bit too close to a stranger (I know you’re closer in economy, but it just feels different when you convert the seats to beds). Size wise, as mentioned they are narrower than Virgin, but wide enough unless you’re quite large. BA has improved the bedding substantially, the White Company bedding is very good. The refurbished 777s at LGW also have the latest Panasonic IFE, and WiFi is being rolled out. I disagree with the poster above who said BA has good storage, the storage in CW is poor compared to other business class seats. This, along with aisle access, is one of the major things BA has pledged to improve with the upcoming new CW seat (don’t hold your breath for seeing that on the MCO route any time soon). However, I wouldn’t pay any kind of significant premium to fly UC over CW, unless you’re really bothered by the seating arrangement, it would be fine. |
