Ontario And Quebec 2017: Day 18 - Mont Morrisette

Another relaxing day

Pancakes (thin ones this time!) had been requested for breakfast. I made the batter and J did the cooking!

We had maple syrup, nutella, jam and of course squirty cream as additions!

This morning's destination was Mont Morrisette in Blue Sea - about 30 minutes away.

It was an uphill walk through a forest (when is a forest not involved! ). It was thankfully pretty bug free!

There were an awful lot of different fungi on the way up - this is just a sample. I am not sure I would be tempted to try any of them.

A random piece of info - in France you can take unknown mushrooms to the pharmacy to be checked if it is edible or not

Almost there! There is a fire tower. In the olden days there would be someone up there from May to November keeping an eye out for fires. They had to know the terrain well in order to give precise alerts as to location if a fire broke out.

The second tower is a belvedere - a viewing point.

The views were spectacular.

You could see for miles - basically lakes and forest as far as the eye could see!

There were also signs showing what you were looking at!

My goats ran down - I am not so sure footed but the descent was quicker than the ascent

I saw this tiny frog - no bigger than my thumb nail! We had seen them last year at La Tuque but in bigger numbers!

On leaving we saw what we think was a stoat crossing the road - certainly hadn't seen an animal like that before!

After a lunch of veggie burgers and crudities, and then a rest J went fishing off the deck! F joined him while I sat on the swing chair reading a John Grisham book I had found!

Then the three waterbabes went out fishing in the pedalo - coming back was hard work as the wind was against them!

After a jacket potato dinner, we headed to La Cremerie in Maniwaki for dessert - a Reese's milkshake for F, a chocolate sundae for O, a banana split for J (O also helped himself! ) and a maple chocolate dipped ice cream for me!

We then headed for the supermarket to stock up again - we are eating 3 meals a day in so are going through food quickly!

Back at the cottage, it is raining so again no sunset pictures
