Can I use ISOFIX in Florida?
Hi all,
Looking for advice on car seats - I’ve read many comments that suggest not to hire from Alamo, so I’m interested to know what car seats other people took with them. We have the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix (attaches via ISOFIX and can also be used with the seatbelt), but our boys are quickly outgrowing these so we may not be able to use them by the time of our holiday. We have since upgraded to the Joie Spin 360, which is ISOFIX with a support leg. Will we be able to use these in Florida? Thanks, Amy Edited at 07:49 PM. |

OP.
What you need to find out is your car seat US type federally approved as if not then is illegal. Isofix has an identical base fit to US latch system but not the top tether. Many Isofix are marketed and tested to a different test procedure so not type approved as are not for sale in US. Dibber Gryff posted on another tread brand that is approved its a bit further down page. I am sure that an isofix seat is safe in US and the chance of any law enforcement officer knowing the seat was not approved would be tiny. However an non approved seat is illegal and I believe on the dibb we cannot advocate an illegal practice. Enjoy your trip.

I believe the Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix (UK name) and the Maxi-Cosi Mico (USA name) are exactly the same car seat. That is what I was basing my opinion on above.
For total piece of mind you might want to email Maxi-Cosi to get the 100% answer on if it legal or not as the poster above is right. Maybe the names make a difference. Edited at 10:50 AM. |
