Thats something I keep meaning to do - it's so annoying to carry both keys around. The keys aren't small these days.

Added to packing list, pliers & spare ring/cable tie.

remove from packing list and go to tool section when in Walmart, Target etc... its only fair that you should get to test the wire cutters if you are thinking about buying them

I always just return the car with the keys in the cup holder in front or whatever, they really don't care

What I did last time I had the steel cable key ring

You will see a joint that is crimped or soldered.
I opened the hood/bonnet to fill the windscreen bottle with water as it was lovebug time. I noticed that the hood stayed up by itself usigl big sprung hinges. So I placed the soldered joint across the hinge, and slowly lowered the hood enough to crush the joint. It didn’t take much effort. Then flexed the joint back and forward and it soon came apart in my hands. No damage to hinge either. You can do the same with the scissor jack in the boot if the car has one.

Otherwise it’s a visit to Walmart or similar. Dollar Tree sidecutters are made of Chinese metal and wouldn’t cut a cheese string
