Tell me about Uber!
Hi,
We have a 3 week stay booked for May/June and will be staying offsite in a Dibb Villa. Although we will have a hire car, we are planning on using Uber when we fancy a drink with dinner maybe and also when we go to stay at at HRH for 4 nights (as the cost of an taxi there and back will be cheaper than paying for 4 nights parking ). We have never used Uber before so would like to understand more about the following; - registering before I go - promotional codes (read somwhere about a credit being added to your account?) - requesting a car with child seats (our kids will be 11 and 6, so we'll need a booster seat at least for our 6 year old - not sure if it's just baby seats they have?) - How you actually book an Uber! Daft question I know but is it all done via the app or do you call them? I really need to get in the 21st century with all this Thanks |

One piece of advice would be to make sure whatever card you register with UBER does not surcharge you for paying in US Dollars. I had my capital one card liked to UBER and forgot to change it over so every uber ride cost a few % more with the capital one foreign transaction fee.
I now have a revolut card and have a USD balance and use that for UBER so no foreign exchange fees. Apart from that UBER is great in Orlando. And cheap too for standard size card. I'll leave for others to advise on car seats as I don;t know but you call it via the app it's very easy

Thank you for your reply. We have a pre-paid FairFX $ card, so would I be able to link this to it then? I see what you mean as my credit card will charge a trasaction fee as I realised when I booked HRH

Get a Post Office Credit Card, they do not charge for use abroad.
Not sure about car seats. But apart from that can thoroughly recommend them. The drivers are very polite and its so cheap compared to Mears etc. You can see on your phone how far away they are and the drivers name and registration number, so you feel really safe.
