Transport AKL to KSC

We're staying at AKL in August and we want to go to Kennedy Space Centre for one day. As it stands we have no hire car, DME from MCO, Disney Transport in WDW and planning on Uber to Universal. I'd quite like to see the beach when we go to KSC and maybe eat out somewhere in the evening.
Is it worth hiring a car for the day? Or would I be better to book some other form of transport?
All opinions/experience welcome as I have no idea!

How spooky! I have been advising another person who wants to do KSC but from Universal.

Looking at all the costs, accepting that KSC is a full day to exploit it properly and also the distance concerened she decided to hire a car.

To see the beach for more than an hour and to dine somewhere on the coast I would be doing a 2 day hire.
Day 1 pick up the car say at 7.00pm
Day 2 very early start to KSC and try for the beach but if thats not achievable still do the meal and drive back to AKL late
Day 3 return the car before 7.00pm

So a 2 day hire and flexibility with timings on the day of the visit.

This was one of the options I was thinking about. I reckon that will cost less than £100, will just have to factor in parking at KSC as well I suppose! I’ve got time to think about it 😊
Thanks for responding.

I assume by your countdown saying 'Disneymoon' there are only 2 of you?

I can find a 2 night thus 3 day hire for £65, small car though!

Yep. Just two. £65 is good! Where is this from?
We’d probably only go for the cheapest car or a convertible if we’re feeling fancy and the price is right :P

I just looked at your countdown and went a few days ahead and picked random dates.
It's with Virgin Atlantic who use Alamo so the car can be collected from the Car Care Centre.
VA does a stand alone hire, no need to be flying with them.

CartoonP is right, that can be a good way to 'let the coach take the strain'.

I just did a quick search for Margaret Mouse who also is going to KSC but the best price I could find was just over £40 each albeit I bet there are cheaper ones. I just did a quick Google and didn't research in depth.

But put the tour on as well and the coach cost drops a lot.

I don't mind driving to be honest, although neither me or OH have ever driven on the wrong side of the road before...
If we wanted to just go to KSC, I think the coach might be a good way to go. I suppose driving gives a little bit more freedom. I'll be researching both options!
