Thanks all -
1. Miami Intl 15 Dec 1800 - 5 Jan 1600 same drop off point - smaller SUV preferable ...
Enough for two adults in rear seats and two large suitcases.
2. A second small car 19-26 Dec pick up and drop off near Four corners or Kissimmee (depending on villa, but happy to drive around from either for good deal).
Would also consider a convertible for either, though for the bigger car it would have to be 4 seats.

Ok. Here are some prices based on an Int SUV and a Standard SUV. Xmas is boosting the cost sadly.

These are all Alamo prices.

Alamo Brits £1043 and £1182
Virgin No availability!
Netflights £1099 and £1246
Auto Europe £1142 and £1236

But Auto Europe are throwing up some awesome deals with other companies
Avis £711 and £795
Budget £549 and £643. A Ford Explorer 7 pax is £884!
Dollar £871 and £883

Sadly a Xmas rental means high demand and high prices. I would be onto some of these deals like a long dog as they wont last.

If it was me I would be doing a bit more research and grabbing the Avis deal.
Hope this helps.

The run around is easy and I'm sure you will get a good quote for that.
Virgin are quoting £158!

Wow! Thank you so much! That’s such a kind thing of you to do.
The only company we’d steer clear of is Sixt after bad upsell experiences and them trying to claim we had damage we knew we didn’t ... and they don’t even figure! Are there any you’d avoid?

Mmm. I'm an Alamo, Avis and Hertz person. But for half the rental cost I can accept most!

But, you are going to be hitting tolls around Miami and will have to be aware of the admin fee and also the cheaper companies high costs for this. Thus I would exclude Dollar as you will be paying $52.49 per week albeit this includes tolls as well.

I would be grabbing an Avis or Budget rental, preferably Avis. $19.75 admin fee for your entire holiday plus tolls for both of them.

With Auto Europe do you pay upfront? Need to make a booking for DFIL and I'm presuming I'd need him to pay with his card?

I can't see an option for pay on arrival. Give them a bell they have a freephone number.
He will need his credit card to book albeit you could do it for him if he gives you the Card details.

Oh. Also on Quidco. 3.5% cashback

Thanks will see what dh and DFIL want to do. I don't use Quidco much as it keeps declining but it's 3.67% with Topcashback so thanks for reminding me as I'd have forgotten to look.
