Glad i have seen this tread! Thomson im sure were only 5kg hand luggage last time we went... on our european holidays we used monarch who were 10kg!
We have never come across strict hand luggage checker-inners, however i have always made sure we are under.

We fly thomas cook this yeaf and i knew we had 6kg, but didnt notice the size allowance. I will need to check our cases.

I always wondered how strictly these things were enforced, i often see people with what seems like really large hand luggage cases and wonder how they get away with it!

Flew with TC last summer and didn't have our hand luggage checked. We did only have a rucksack each. I guess if we had a small case each they may just check it as you can fit quite a lot in them.

Glad someone asked this always flown Virgin or BA for past 20years. First flights with TC this year, also first flight with large hand luggage bags (55x40x20). Never had hand luggage weighed before or seen them doing checks.

If the weight allowed is 6 kg save any hassle and just take six. Why push it?

As a comparison, if the speed limit says 30 do you say “ b****r it I’ll just do 40 because 30 is not enough” ?
