Laptop internet connection / storage

Hi please help a very non techy person.

DD yesterday said she her laptop wouldn’t connect to the internet, checked and this message came up

Any ideas what this means and is it easily fixed?

We’ve got around the issue temporarily by connecting laptop to router via Ethernet cable but this isn’t ideal.

Also DD has all her college documents saved on the laptop and nowhere else. I realise this is risky but how should we store elsewhere, should I purchase a USB stick, would this be ok?

All help greatly received, thank you

Had a similar experience recently with the wireless card in laptop, bought a wireless adaptor from amazon for £7 and it does the trick, just plug it in to USB port and log on as normal. A usb pen drive for back up of files would suffice also,

The Qualcomm QCA9377 is not only the wireless adapter but it is also your Bluetooth adapter so neither will function without it. Your troubleshooting error message indicates that it is experiencing either a driver issue or a hardware issue.

If it is a hardware issue it means that Qualcomm has probably malfunctioned and would need to be repaired in order to function or be replaced with a usb adapter that is both wi-fi and Bluetooth capable.

If it is a driver issue, this can sometimes be resolved by deleting the Qualcomm device from DEVICE MANAGER (i.e. telling the PC that it is no longer present) and then rebooting the computer. When the PC reboots it will immediately detect the Qualcomm as being present again and will load and setup the appropriate driver again for it.

To get to DEVICE MANAGER type DEVICE MANAGER in your windows search box and click on the pop-up "Device Manager" to open it. Scroll down to your network adapters and click the little arrow to open them Find your QUALCOMM adapter and right click it and click UNINSTALL DEVICE. Once uninstalled, reboot the computer.

Go back to DEVICE MANAGER again and go back to network adapters. You should now see the Qualcoomm back again. At this point it may very well be working again. Check your internet without having the ethernet cable plugged in. If it is not you must make sure your internet is now working by plugging in the ethernet cable and then try right clicking the Qualcomm device again and then clicking on UPDATE DRIVER and click SEARCH AUTOMATICALLY FOR UPDATED DRIVER SOFTWARE. This should find a new driver on the PC or the internet if it is available.

Hope this helps. Worth giving it a try.

Thank you for your reply, although now we have WiFi again and it’s all working again, very weird!

I’ve also bought a USB drive so feeling happier, many thanks 😊
