No cover for any cancellation costs caused by Covid. Unlimited medical cover if we are ill abroad with Covid UNLESS we travel against FCO advice.

The FCO advice at the time of either insurance renewal or booking the holiday totally immaterial.

That's our policy anyway - could have changed in the last 3 months I suppose. Everything else seems to.

Can't be certain without reading the T&Cs again if we've got the Covid cancellation cover within 14 days of travel but pretty sure we have the rest.

I noticed Post Office insurance is including covid 19 cover now

My Nationwide ins ( UK iNSURANCE ) are not covering Cancellation costs caused by Covid and wont cover when you are there either for covid related reasons.

They may change there stance at some point, who knows.
Other insurers are starting to add it as they have realised no one will buy their insurance if covid is not covered for cancellation and while on holiday.

If Nationwide don't decide to include it i will purchase with someone who does cover it nearer the time.
We are really at no risk ot huge cancellation costs until 3 weeks before we go when we would need to pay balance as travelling with BA and the booking can just be moved without charge

Mick
Just out of interest Sophiepop I had an email from Staysure today adding cancellation within 14 days due to Covid.

Does the insurance cover you if you book a holiday to USA whilst the FCO is in place.
Or does it only become void if you travel whilst the FCO is in place

I can't add any more to what I said back in post #10. In the case of Staysure anyway when you take out insurance or book the holiday the FCO advice is totally irrelevant. It's the prevailing FCO advice that matters if you are ill over there and try to claim off your insurance.

Insurance doesn't actually become void then either. It's only claiming medical cover if you travel against FCO advice.

If the FCO has been lifted then say 4 days prior to travelling its reintroduced would the insurance cover the loss off holiday due to not being able to travel.
As all off the holiday would have been paid in full by then

Also topcashback are doing 25% cashback at the mo

Sorry but you might need to check individual insurance T&Cs as you're getting a bit specific for my knowledge.

I can only quote my current policy. If we have to cancel if we get Covid within 14 days of travel we are covered for cancellation. If we travel against FCO advice we won't be covered for medical issues over there.

You might want to ring your insurer with your more specific questions I'm afraid as I simply can't advise.
